what is PowerStack Installation?
The amplifier measures just 7” W x 3.5” H x 1.25” D and fits in the open space behind Alpine’s new iLX-W650 Mech-less Audio/Video Receiver. Since the iLX-W650 has a chassis that is only 1.9-inches deep, the KTA-450 attaches to the back of it using the included bracket, to create a PowerStack design. When attached, the iLX-W650, KTA-450, and mounting bracket fit within the standard depth occupied by a traditional 2-DIN chassis, resulting in a system that produces 400-watts Dynamic Peak Power (DPP) without the bulk of a traditional amplifier. The KTP-450 has a one-sided terminal layout for easy installation to the iLX-W650. The iLX-W650, used with the KTA-450, won a CES 2019 Innovation Award in the In-Vehicle Audio/Video category.

The iLX-W650 boasts several unique interface and form factor advancements. The new swipe control interface is designed for easy use so drivers can keep their eyes on the road. A two-finger swipe motion moving up, sown, left, or right will control volume up, volume down, track skip forward, and track skip back. The two-finger swipe can be done at any location on the touch screen, eliminating the need for the driver to search and touch a specific area for do each command.
The iLX-W650 is a mech-less design (no CD/DVD slot) and has a very shallow chassis that measures only 2.4-inches deep. The shallow chassis allows the system to fit into vehicles that do not have a lot of depth behind the dashboard or into other applications that require a small amount of space.
Dynamic Peak Power (DPP) Technology
The KTA-450 features Alpine’s exclusive DPP technology which intelligently adjusts the gain to automatically adapt to musical needs. DPP prevents the amplifier from clipping music signals by supplying up to double the power to support rhythmic instruments that provide snappy sounds (like a snare drum, trumpet, or high-hat cymbals). During these dynamic musical passages, DPP instantly delivers bursts of power to rise to the peak demands of the music. The DPP technology boosts the KTA-450’s performance to 400 watts DPP, essentially doubling the amplifier’s power without increasing its size.
